Odyssey of a singer/songwriter
This gals been around.
With her band, solo guitar, songs, attitude and audiences, shes going strong, and growing stronger all the time.
From the deep South of Atlanta, Georgia and Mobile, Alabama, to Vassar College, to New Yorks Greenwich Village, to her own label, Mobile Bay Records, to Nashville and other USA venues, to a successful tour og Germany, Lezlee Peterzell has won enthusiastic audiences and critical acclaim for her songs, style, and singing.
Aquarian said it best in a recent review:
At
times boldly confrontational,
at
times achingly vulnerable,
always
strikingly honest.
Lezlees songs, composed in a well-word notebook she always carries with her, deal with - celebrate - everyday life with its fully range of human emotions. No cliches, only a full measure of honesty, intensity and truth that appeal to her urban and college audiences.
Continuing her professional studies along with her gigs, Lezlee has studied voice with the late noted opera-singer and pedagogue, Therman Bailey.
June 99. Lezlee made her first foray abroad with her tour of Germany: 16 shows in 21 days, which gave birth to her latest CD, Alive! Released under her own label, the CD contains thirteen live and studio recordings.
With the encouragement of a large and loyal NYC following, Lezlee has played Irving Plaza, The Bitter End and The Bottom Line, opening for a variety of artists including Juliana Hatfield, Jeffrey Gaines, The Saw Doctors, and Shawn Mullins.
She is a regular at Eddies Attic, in Atlanta, and at the famous Bluebird Cafe, in Nashville.
Fall 99. The venue was Bayfest, a massive outdoor music-festival in Mobile, which drew an audience of more than 100,000 and a celebrity artist-roster of B.B. King, Chaka Khan, with The Isley Brothers headlining.
Lezlee is also a seasoned road warrior, playing regularly for the club and college circuit in the South and Northeast, with regular radio play on many college and commercial stations. Rich in passion and intensity, she is a favorite of college audiences.
October 00. Lezlee returned for her second Europe tour, including Germany, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. Her yacht captain boyfriend, Robert Bellanich, flew to Prague and proposed marriage onstage in the middle of her show at the Hard Rock Cafe in Prague. They were married on August 3rd, 2001 aboard a 130ft motor yacht in New York City.
By no means a self-serving dilettante, Lezlee is a disciplined, hard-working musician, striving for focus and delineation in her messages and style. Her 1998 debut CD, Just Being, was acclaimed by fans and critics alike. More than 2,000 copies were sold at her shows.
Other recordings by Lezlee include her solo-acoustic CD, Renaissance, a live from Germany CD entitled Alive! and a charming childrens bedtime album, Lezlees Lovabyes.
Lezlees Lovabyes features 10 original songs recorded in 3 different ways: a) with musical accompaniment (Happy Mornings) b) alone, in a cappella style (Sweet Dreams), and c) with music only (Sing Along).
The intimacy of Lezlees Lovabyes leave her audiences imagining the presence of a mother and child in a the room where she is performing, one of the oldest, most natural and treasured themes in the human psyche.
In concert - solo or with her band - Lezlees strong, outgoing personality impacts her audiences, developing a rapport with them from the first moment, note and lyric. Its a memorable experience for the sophisticated rebel and for her audiences.
